Your speech therapist will give you an estimate of how long they believe the treatment will take, usually, services are recommended for a period of 6 months but it will vary from child to child, and a variety of factors will contribute to your child’s progress (i.e., parent active participation, carrying over strategies to other contexts, regular attendance to scheduled sessions, patient’s motivation, patient’s health, and many others). All progress will be monitored on a weekly basis, and modifications in the treatment plan will be made based on progress, regression, clinical opinion, and parent input.
In order to identify a child’s needs and develop an individualized and unique treatment plan we need to perform an initial evaluation, and it’s suggested to do it every 6 months of therapy. However, if you already have an evaluation done in another setting (clinic or school) that is not older than 6 months we can accept it.
I'm interested in your in-home and school services. How far do you travel for these services?
Services are provided only within a 15 mile radius of zip code 32258.
When do you collect payment for services? Do you collect payment at the time of the appointment, or do you bill monthly?
Payment for services is due at the time of your appointment. For virtual services or services provided in the school, Ideas Speech Therapy will collect credit card information using an authorization form and bill you once service is rendered. Your information is protected and will only be used for Ideas Speech Therapy services. Monthly superbills are available upon request.
School-based therapy is different from Ideas Speech Therapy in the following ways:
1. School-based therapy usually occurs in groups where students might have different goals and be in different developmental stages. Ideas Speech Therapy is personalized and tailored to meet your child's needs in a 1:1 ratio.
2. School-based therapy is recommended when communication difficulties are affecting children's academics. Ideas Speech Therapy is recommended when communication difficulties are affecting children's social-emotional or functional everyday skills, not just academics.
3. In school-based therapy, parents may only have contact with the professionals upon request or during annual meetings (IEP). In Ideas Speech Therapy, SLPs usually invite parents to be active participants during sessions, and if a parent is not available, we establish a frequent means of communication with parents, caregivers, and teachers.
Both types of therapy complement each other, and at Ideas Speech Therapy, we are happy to work in collaboration with your child's school SLP to achieve the best results.
Friendly reminder: It is the family’s responsibility to save copies of all treatment notes, evaluations, progress reports, invoices, and superbills from handling any insurance claims.
